Two main reasons. One, it is the only 5-star hotel that is designed as an actual resort with a distinct atmosphere, not an apartment building dropped onto a beach. Two, it has a unique location in Mactan due to its proximity to the Third Mactan Bridge, which leads to downtown Cebu. Plantation Bay is therefore a Real Resort which is ALSO just 20 minutes from major shopping, casino, and restaurant complexes, or 30 minutes from the heart of Cebu City. At this time (December 2025), most of our lagoon-facing rooms and suites appear practically brand-new with no significant functional or cosmetic defects. Deluxe Poolside and Family Rooms look about 3-5 years old. All our guest rooms and bathrooms are better-fitted and furnished than any other 5-star resort in Mactan, even the newer ones.
